Janet Lynn Harbour Sept. 16, 1950 - Dec. 30, 2007 Funeral services for Janet Lynn Harbour will be held at Fairfax Assembly of God (1408 Marion Drive) on Monday morning, January 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery (3700 River Blvd.) Pastors Pete Baker and Chris Ferguson will officiate. Janet was born September 16, 1950 in Bakersfield and graduated from North High School in 1968. She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for many years, often working the night shift. She entered the visible presence of Christ on Sunday, December 30, 2007. Her life revolved around children and she touched the lives of many children through the ministries of her church. She served for years in Pre-School Church, as a Sunday School teacher, in Missionette Clubs, in Vacation Bible School, as a Junior Bible Quiz coach and as a Rainbow sponsor. She participated in every camp, carnival and fundraiser involving children. She was a cook for the Say YES! After School program and participated in food give-away programs and directed free yard sale and toy distributions. She coordinated dinners for families facing funerals and those returning from the hospital. She was a vital and active member of Fairfax Assembly of God and was much loved by the entire church family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Effie Ellen Beery. She is survived by her father, James Beery of Bakersfield; her former husband, Darrell Harbour of Bakersfield; son, Jeffrey Harbour and wife, Leslie; son, Scott Harbour; daughter, Julie Harbour all of Bakersfield and goddaughter, Sarah Hardin of London, England. Siblings include Joyce McDonald and husband, Daniel of Bakersfield; brothers, Wayne Beery of Oregon City, OR and Jim Beery and wife, Miriam of Lima, Peru. Her cherished grandchildren, Claire Harbour, Caleb Harbour, Isabelle Harbour, Camille Harbour and Ashton Moore, all of Bakersfield. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends will also miss her giving spirit and servant's heart. A preschool play area, currently under construction at Fairfax Assembly, was planned by Janet. In her memory it will be named Janet's Garden.
