Leota I. Beery, 100, of Fort Wayne, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at her place of residence, Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Decatur on August 9, 1886 to Washington and Elizabeth Archbold Gilpen and married Edwin Beery on October 2, 1907. He died in 1931.
She was a member of Simpson United Methodist church at Fort Wayne.
Surviving are two former daughters-in-law: Mrs. Robert (Jane) Gardenour of Fort Wayne and Pauline Berry of Decatur; five grandchildren: Mrs. William (Bonnie) Schnepf of Decatur; Michael Beery of Bloomfield, Kentucky; and Mrs. Jon (Barbara) Collette, Mrs. Edward (Monette) King, and Mrs. Gary (Carol) Ferree, all of Fort Wayne; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter Jeanette Beery, and two sons: Kenneth and John Beery.
Her funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Winteregg-Linn and Haggard Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Crowder officiating.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Visiting hours at the funeral home are 7-9 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are gifts to Simpson United Methodist church.
