Abraham S. Beery, "Little Abe," born September 9, 1829, Rockingham County, Virginia; went with parents to Fairfield County, Ohio, 1836; after Father's death made home with uncle, Peter V. Beery, near Logan; farmer Marion Township, Hocking County; moved to Covington i 1892.
Church of the Brethren (deacon, Rush Creek congregatgation; gave corner of land from his farm in Hocking County, 2 miles north of Logan, for Marion church, also known as the "Slab" church because the siding of rather wide slabs of wood was put on vertically; first S.S. superintendent at Marion church and often conducted church service when no minister was present; church serves have since been discontinued, but the building is still used for reunions and similar gatherings.)
Abraham died October 20, 1909, Covington; senility; buried Covington.
Married March 22, 1853 to Margaret "Luvina" Hunsaker, born March 11, 1835, Hocking County ( daughter of John and Catherine (Hoffert) Hunsaker) Church of the Brethren; died February 22, 1914, Covington; old age, buried Covington.
