Mr. Beers was born February 7, 1938 in Pendleton, Oregon, to Georgia and Freeman Beers. He lived in Ukiah, Oregon until he was 13 years old, at which time his family moved to Lewiston, Idaho. He later followed his family to Lewiston, however his heart always remained in Ukiah. He attended high school at Upper Columbian Academy and ultimately earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Walla Wall College.
He went on to teach 6th grade at Silver Star Elementary in Vancouver, Washington, a vocation he loved dearly. Economic realities forced his departure from the education field and he moved on to spend many years in the logging and construction industries, including work on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline. In later years Mr. Beers returned to education as a bus driver, transportation supervisor and school board member for the Athena-Weston school district.
Mr. Beers was a veteran, a horseman and a man of nature. He loved to hunt and fish with his family. His spare time found him on the golf course and playing cards with friends.
He is survived by his wife, of 47 years Bo, his three sons: Kyle, Kevin and Chad, daughters-in-law: Myra and Sonoko, grandchildren: Tyler and Tasha, and step-grandchildren: Brittney, Brin and Ashley.
