IN MEMORY

Daniel M. Beers was born Feb. 23, 1839, in Cuyahoga county (sic), New York, and died at Nelson, Nebr, Thursday, April 12th, 1900, at the age of seventy one.

While yet a child, he, with his parents removed to Michigan to live. When about twenty years of age, his parents again sought a pioneer home in the state of Illinois, settling In Toulon, Stark county (sic). Here in 1866 he was united in marriage to Eliza K. Bowen of that place. To them was born an only child, a daughter, who has lovingly and faithfully administered at his bedside during the last four weeks of his illness. In 887 the family came from Illinois to make their home in Nelson, where they have continuously resided ever since. The deceased was stricken with pneumonia about five weeks ago but with all that skill, careful nursing, kind friends and relatives could do for him he passed away at noon, Thursday last, in the arms of his loving life long companion. It may be truly said of him that he was one of the truest of husbands, kindest of father and best of citizens. Quiet and unassuming, yet firm in his convictions of right and wrong, and every just and upright in his dealings with fellow man. A bereaved wife and daughter in Colorado and a brother in Illinois besides many acquaintances at left to mourn his loss. Rev. Porter conducted the funeral services from the late residence Saturday, April 14th, assisted by Nelson Lodge A. F. & A. M.
