Anna Margaretha Wetendorf was born March 26, 1876 in Berg, Island of Fehmarn,
Germany and departed from this life on Thursday, January 14 at her home
southwest of Schleswig. She reached the age of 77 years, 9 months and 18 days.
She was baptized as a child and later confirmed in her native land. On April 26,
1895 she was united in marriage to Christian Friedrich "Fred" Beeck. Five
children were born to this union. The Beeck family remained in Germany until
1924, when they came to this country to make their home. During the past thirty
years, they have lived on farms in the Denison and Schleswig communities.
In 1945, they retired from farming and built a small home near the home of their
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jepsen. About three years ago, Mrs.
Beeck suffered a stroke from which she never fully recovered. In 1952, she fell
and broke her hip and for the next year and a half, she was confined to her
wheel chair. Last November she suffered another stroke and since that time had
been bedfast. Thus, death came as a relief from her suffering.
Mrs. Beeck was buried on Saturday in the same dress she was married in. She also
wore this dress on their silver and golden wedding anniversaries.
She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Fred; three daughters, Mrs. Dora
(Herman) Jepsen of Schleswig, Mrs. Anna (Ernst) Duhnke of Burg, Germany and Mrs.
Elsa (Edward) Jepsen of Charter Oak; one son, Fred Beeck of Denison; three half
sisters, Mrs. Nicoline (Georg) Muller of Burg, Germany, Mrs. Dora (Thomas)
Schroeder of Schleswig and Mrs. Amanda Grell of Denison; and one half brother,
Henry Lafrenz of Denison. She was preceded in death by an infant son Henry, her
mother and step-father and one half sister.
