Harold Harry J. Beecher, 90 years of age, passed away peacefully at his home in South Weymouth Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, following a period of declining health. He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth D. (Damon) Beecher, to whom he had been married for 54 years. He was the devoted father of Susan and her husband Allan Orsini of Taunton and Mark and his wife Lori Beecher of Braintree. He was the loving grandfather of Lauryn Beecher of Bridgewater and Nicole and Courtney Orsini of Taunton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Harry was the brother of the late John Beecher and Addie Lowry. He retired from the U.S. Customs Service in Boston as Regional Budget Officer in 1977. He was a graduate of Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge and attended Boston University where he studied accounting. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in North Africa and Italy. He was an honorary member of Mount Olivet Lodge of Masons in Cambridge. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the world visiting almost all countries over a period of time. He had been a Weymouth resident since 1982 and had previously resided in Braintree. A service in celebration of Harrys life will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree, Saturday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. There will be visiting hours preceding the service beginning at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Memorial donations may be sent to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Drive, Braintree, MA 02184.
