Mrs. Lucy Smith Odom Bedwell, 80 of Sandersville died Saturday, July 17, 2004 in the Washington County Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Services were held Monday, July 19, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Tennille. The Rev. M.D. Cabe officiated. Burial was in the Washington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Thompson, Robert Thompson, Curt Thompson, Keith Thompson, Brian McClendon, Jason McClendon, Stevan Harris, Josh Odom, and Clay McClendon.
Mrs. Bedwell was a native of Marion County, Mississippi, daughter of the late Walter Smith and the late Edna Terrell Smith. She has resided in Sandersville for the past ten years and was a retired employee of J.P. Stephens Company. Mrs. Bedwell was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Odom Thompson of Tennille, Judy Odom Harris of Pineville, KY, Faye Odom Lewis and Kay Odom McClendon, both of Sandersville; son, Daniel Felton Odom of Sandersville; two sisters, Alma Stringer, Lena Mae Clark, both of Foxworth, Mississippi; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1899 Central Avenue, Augusta, Ga. 30904.
