Barney F. Bedford was born Jan. 6, 1916, in Springtown. He was a member of Saginaw Church of Christ and the Lake Country Golf Association. He was a 1935 graduate of Springtown High School, where he made all-district and all-state basketball honors. He attended John Tarleton Agricultural College on a basketball scholarship and also attended North Texas State University on a basketball scholarship. He was a licensed aircraft pilot. He was a former president of a life insurance company and owned an automobile dealership. He was a former director for York Christian College. He was an avid golfer with a hole in one to his credit. He consistently shot his age.
Survivors: Daughters, Carolyn Robbins and her husband, Joe, of Irving and Marolyn McCreery and her husband, Bob, of Fort Worth; sister, Ruth Vandiver of Sulphur Springs; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and an extended family and a host of friends.
