DEATH AFTER LONG ILLNESS
COMES TO ALBERT BECKWITH A LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF EAST ASHTABULA.
SERVED HIS COUNTRY DURING CIVIL WAR
Deceased Had Suffered for Five Months From Dropsy and End Came Friday Morning – was Employed By Lake Shore Company at Harbor.
Albert Beckwith, a highly esteemed and life long resident of Ashtabula died at his home on the middle ridge road east of Ashtabula Friday morning, early, following a protracted illness due to dropsy with which he had been afflicted. For the past five months Beckwith had been in poor health and for three months had been confined to his bed.
The deceased was born in East Ashtabula and always lived here. His home had been the old Beckwith farm and there he passed his entire life except for the dark days of the Civil war when he was a sturdy defender of the union in the army of the North. He was a member of Paulus Post, G. A. R. and active in his work.
Mr. Beckwith had attained the age of sixty-three years on January 12, last.
The surviving family includes the widow and a brother Danield Beckwith who lives on the East Side, also a sister, Mrs. Cornelius Morgan of Jefferson.
For many years Mr. Beckwith had been employed as an engineer on the Lake Shore docks at the Harbor.
The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
