Interment of J. A. Beckwith, Jr., Made in Mountain View Cemetery.
The funeral for John Alison Beckwith Jr., who was killed by the accidental discharge of his rifle while on a hunting trip Sunday, was held today. The service was read by R. C. H. Martin, reader for the First Church of Christ Scientist. Interment was in Mountain View cemetery.
Beckwith was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Beckwith of 2757 Telegraph avenue. He was born in Oakland 32 years ago and was a graduate of Oakland high school. He was with his father in the insurance brokerage business. He was a member of the Masons and the Elks.
Beckwith is survived by his wife and his 13-months-old son, Frederick, his father and mother, a brother, Spencer Beckwith, and two sisters, Mrs. Delger Trowbridge of Piedmont and Mrs. James Moorhead of Marysville
Death occurred when Beckwith slipped on a ledge in the wilds of Trinity county, falling and discharging his rifle. The bullet passed through his head, killing him instantly. Beckwith was on a hunting trip with Harley Carter, San Francisco furniture man." END
