Mr. Jefferson Davis Beckum, 77, well known Blythe farmer, entered into rest at 5:45 o'clock Monday morning, June 20, 1938, at the residence in Blythe, Georgia after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Blythe Methodist Church, the Rev. V.B. Hamrick officiating, assisted by the Rev. H.J. Stokes. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Active pallbearers will be R.F. Jones, Paul Templeton, Willard Holley, T.M. Nickles, F.H. Turner and R.K. Hood. Mr. Beckum was a native of Burke County, Georgia, but had lived in Richmond County practically all of his life. He and Mrs. Beckum who survives him, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary January 29, 1935. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Buck Beckum; four sons, A.F. Beckum of Wrens, Ga., C.G. Beckum of Louisville, Ga., Doyle Beckum and J.L. Beckum, both of Blythe; four daughters, Mrs. C.C. Wallace of Perkins, Ga., Mrs. Lindsay Cawley of Waynesboro, Ga., and Miss Nona Beckum and Miss Iris Beckum, both of Blythe; grandchildren, Miss Myrtis Beckum, Frank Beckum and John Beckum, all of Wrens, J.C. Beckum, Doyle Beckum Jr., Miss Mary Alice Beckum, Miss Wilma Beckum, Miss Dorothy Beckum, Miss Margaret Beckum, Lewis Taylor Beckum, and Miss Ruth Beckum, all of Blythe, Miss Sarah Cawley, Billy Cawley, Jack Cawley, Allen Cawley, all of Waynesboro, and C.G. Beckum of Louisville; and one great grandchild, Eugenia Beckum of Blythe. Elliott Sons.
