Clara Smith Beckham

BLYTHEWOOD — The funeral service for Clara Smith Beckham, of Blythewood, widow of James S. Beckham Sr., will be held 11 o'clock Monday morning, April 30, 2007, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member, officiated by Rev. Bill Lynch. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at 10 o'clock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel in Columbia, is in charge.

Born November 27, 1914, in Fairfield County, she was a daughter of the late Linder B. and Mabell Rabon Smith. She had retired as an instructor of Food and Nutrition from Clemson Extension and was a member of Grange Home Club. Mrs. Beckham was a talented seamstress.

Surviving are her son, Michael S. Beckham, Fort Mill, her sister, Alberta Smith Maxey, Columbia, a daughter-in-law, Sylvia T. Beckham, Winnsboro, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beckham was preceded in death by her son, James S. Beckham Jr., and three sisters.
