Daily Reporter, Tues. Feb. 13, 1917, p. 10:4. Empire Woman Was Summoned. Mrs. Mary Abler Passed Away At Her Home This Afternoon. She Was Born In Germany. Mrs. Mary Abler, a resident of the town of Empire for the past 51 years, passed away at her home at 12:15 o'clock this afternoon. She was born in Alchert, Prussia, Germany, in 1832, and came to America with her parents, Nicholas and Katharina Emmerich Becker, at the age of 18. The family settled in Marshfield, and later moved to Empire. The deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Katie Eggers of Eden, Miss Lizzie Abler of Milwaukee, and Miss Barbara at home; five sons, Mathias of the town of Fond du Lac, Michael and James (sic Joseph) of this city, and John and Peter at home; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday morning from the residence, and at 10:30 from St. Joseph's church in this city. The Rev. J.J. Collins will officiate, with interment at St. Charles cemetery in Taycheedah.

Daily Reporter, Sat. Feb. 17, 1917, p. 2:5. The funeral of Mrs. Mary Abler was held Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the family residence in the town of Empire and at 10:30 o'clock from St. Joseph's Catholic church. A requiem high mass was sung, the Rev. J.J. Collins acting as celebrant, the Rev. T.J. Cosgrove as deacon, and the Rev. J.J. Shanahan as sub-deacon. The pallbearers were John Kiley, William Fitzgerald, John Cody, M. Damm, Charles Zamzow, and Felix Zancraft. Interment was at St. Charles cemetery, Taycheedah. The funeral was attended by many people, and the floral offerings were numerous and beautiful.
