OBITUARY

MRS. JOSEPHINE BECKER
Mrs. Josephine Becker, wife of August R. Becker, died at the home of her parents in Oskaloosa on Tuesday, May 29, 1900, at the age of twenty-one years and three months, after an illness of several months with consumption.
The remains were taken to Cambria where they were tenderly laid to rest on Thursday by the side of her brother and sisters who had preceded her to the better land.
Brief services were conducted at the cemetery by Rev. Smith, pastor of the Baptist church at Cambria. A large concourse of relatives and friends from Lucas and Wayne counties attended the last sad rites. The white casket was covered with beautiful flowers, many of them being sent by her classmates of this city, and some of them by the Royal Neighbors of Oskaloosa, of which she was a member.
Deceased had departed this life with a smile on her face and in her dreamless sleep was as beautiful as the flowers which surrounded her.
Miss Josephine Miskimins was born in Chariton and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Miskimins, resided here until January 10, 1900, when the family moved to Oskaloosa.
On May 15, 1899, she was married in that city to August R. Becker, who survives her. Mr. and Mrs. Becker moved back to Chariton and resided here until a few months ago when they returned to Oskaloosa where she could be kindly cared for by her parents. Before her marriage she contracted a severe cold which finally terminated in consumption.
Deceased had been a consistent member of the Baptist church for several years and died trusting in her Savior. She graduated from the Chariton high school in 1898 and was one of the brightest members of the class. Here in Chariton, where she had resided nearly all her life, she had won many friends by her pleasant disposition and her death has caused extreme sorrow.
Her husband, parents, and one sister, Miss Etta Miskimins, of Omaha, mourn her death and to them the heartfelt sympathy of the community is extended.
