Nora K. Beckenholdt, 88, of Pittsfield, died Thurs. May 20, 1999, at her residence. Born Feb. 17, 1911 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of William and Jane Austin Singleton. She married Paul Beckenholdt Jan. 30, 1948 in KY and he preceded her in death Sept. 7, 1989. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1928 and then joined the Women's Army Corps during WWII. She was employed as a clerk for the Illinois State Police District 20 and retired after 20 years. She was of the Catholic faith, was an active member of the Pike County Democratic party, a member of the Pittsfield American Legion Post 152, a charter member of the Women's Memorial Foundation, the O.G. Bridge Club and the M&M Club. She was also preceded by 2 brothers, William and John Singleton; a sister Sara Goodin; and a nephew, George Goodin. Funeral services were Monday at 1 pm at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial was at Pittsfield West Cemetery with military rites by Pittsfield American Legion Post 152. Memorials are suggested to the Pike County Senior Citizens Center.
