Hazel Cantrell Beck
Hazel Cantrell Beck, 90, of Athens, died Monday night, Nov. 4, 2002, at NHC of Athens.
A lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late James Walter and Fannie Belle Slack Cantrell and was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Carl J. Beck on Sept. 17, 1994; one daughter, Zella B. Duckworth; and five brothers, Ralph, Jimmy, John, Eugene and Reed Cantrell. She was a member of West View Baptist Church and owned and operated Beck's Beauty Shop in Athens for many years.
Survivors include one grandson and wife, the Rev. Scott and Jean Duckworth of Etowah; one sister and brother-in-law, Inez and Edgar Tutterow of Athens; one sister-in-law, Arietta Cantrell of Englewood; and one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Glynn and Vee Beck of Knoxville and Ruby Beck of Athens.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Arliss Slack, the Rev. Bill Vest and the Rev. Scott Duckworth officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Wildwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be men from West View Baptist Church.
The body is in state at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
