Claudia Jeanne Bechtol, 70, of Chico was born Dec. 15th, 1945 in Richmond, CA to James & Julia Hancock.

She passed peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer with her family by her side on February 21st, 2016. She is survived by her husband Bruce E. Bechtol, stepson Bruce E. Bechtol, Jr. (Jung Eun) of San Angelo, TX, stepdaughter Beth S. Bechtol of Santa Rosa, CA, daughters Kathleen Bollinger (Michael) of Susanville, CA; Desta Lair (Charles) and Shayna Bechtol, both of Chico, CA; grandchildren Lisa Black of Los Angeles, CA, Sara Bechtol of Iowa City, IA, Ariana & Wyatt Bollinger both of Susanville, CA, Sabrina Husband and Aeris Lair both of Chico, CA.

Claudia enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, and supporting animal welfare. She was active in supporting the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Sanctuary, the Best Friends Animal Society, Chico Cat Coalition, Butte Humane Society, and local K-9 officers. Her love of animals was a lifelong passion.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Sanctuary or other Northern California animal welfare groups.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Saturday, March 19th at the Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home with a reception to follow immediately after.
