BEAVERS, CECELIA K.
On Friday, March 13, 1981, at Sibley Memorial Hospital, CECELIA K. BEAVERS, formerly of Kalamazoo, Mich., beloved sister of Mrs. Ralph Slusher, of Manassas, Va.; aunt of Mrs. Jack Collop, of Kalamazoo, Mich. Services and interment private. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy may be made to the Woodbine Baptist Church, Manassas, Va., 22110.

Cecelia Beavers, Woodies Detective
Cecelia K. Beavers, 80, a detective for the Woodward & Lothrop department store here for 42 years before retiring in 1966, died of pneumonia March 13 at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Born and reared in Manassas, Miss Beavers moved to Washington in about 1918 and graduated from business school here. In 1921 she went to work in Woodies' marking room and then was promoted to saleswoman and assistant buyer. She became a store detective in 1924.
A graduate of the police academy, she was rated a pistol expert and served as a deputy sheriff in Montgomery County and as a member of the special police forces here and in Alexandria.
During World War II, she was an air raid warden and civil defense instructor, for which she received a commendation ribbon.
After retiring, Miss Beavers made hats for friends as a hobby.
Survivors include two sisters, Goldie B. Milnes of Washington, and Elizabeth Slusher of Manassas.
