Janet's mother remembered when her second born daughter won a baby beauty contest. She was the second of eight children born to John and Kathryn (Gunning) Beaver. She lived her entire life in Kokomo, Indiana.
Janet died at the age of 15 years. Her family recalls that she had seemed very happy. Her mother found her in her bedroom, hanging from her hall closet. The coroner ruled her death a suicide, which the family vigorously contests even after 50 years. She had played around with knots and rope tieing for some time and they believe she was goofing around and went too far.
Janet is buried in Crown Point Cemetery in Kokomo next to her sister JoAn.
