Bay Center resident, Beatrice Vivian Disney, 82, died on Jan. 18, 2008, in Raymond. The daughter of Clifton Thomas Van Orsdol and Ada Pickernell Van Orsdol, she was born in Nemah, on March 19, 1925.
She was raised in the Wishkah area with her eight siblings, attended and graduated from Wishkah Valley High School.
She later married Clyde Edward Beatty and together they moved to Bay Center, where they built a family home and raised their son, Ronald Clyde Beatty. Together they enjoyed fishing, clam digging and bark peeling. Beatrice worked for several years at the Harbor Bell seafood Cannery in Bay Center.
Her Native American heritage was a very important part of her life. She was an active member and respected elder of the Chinook Indian Tribe.
Beatrice was an avid football fan, following the Seahawks every season. She enjoyed beachcombing, berry picking, sewing, spending time with her large extended family, and sunsets watched from her front window.
Survivors include her three grandchildren, Kimberly Perez of Ocean Park, Carrie Lentz of Longview, and Ronald Beatty of Kelso; and was also the great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; and her son, Ron.
A graveside service will be held on Jan. 25, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the New Bay Center Cemetery followed by a potluck gathering at the Nemah Community Church in Nemah. Arrangements are in Care of:
