Dorothy Beattie, 93, of Bloomington, died Saturday at Bloomington Hospital.
Born May 27, 1904, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary (Stevens) Lampkins. She had worked for many years in guardian homes for children. She was a member of the First Baptist /United Church of Christ and a 70-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include her sister, Helen Carter Lamar of Louisville, Ky.; several nieces and nephews, including those who were her caregivers, Chester Dunlap and Cynthia Simpson, both of Bloomington, and Pamela Dunlap of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Beattie, in 1982; five sisters, Elizabeth Meadows, Nellie Stevens, Maude Martin, Hattie Huddleson, Bessie Randall; and a brother, George Lampkins.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Day Mortuary with the Rev. Robert Curtis officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where Order of Eastern Star memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist/United Church of Christ or to Public Health Nursing in care of Bloomington Hospital.
