Margie was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a Godly woman who loved her church and her church family. She was an awesome cook, loved a cup of coffee anytime, and a bowl of ice cream in the evening. She enjoyed reading and was a passionate pet lover.
Margie graduated from Bowie High School, Class of 1944, and was a life-long member of the Bowie High School Alumni Association. On the anniversary of their 50th class reunion (1994}, Margie wrote the following:
"After graduating and a few months thereafter, I married Raul G. Abeyta. I led a simple lifestyle, had 3 sons who in return have given me 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. I worked as a circulation librarian for 33 years, retired 6 years ago. As I said before, I led a very simple life but loved every minute of it."
She worked for the City of El Paso for over 33 years as a Public Librarian. Margie was survived by her three sons and their wives. Raul (Bobby) and Linda Abeyta of El Paso, Texas .Granddaughters, Lisa Perkins and her husband Tommy, April Abeyta, and Barbara (Nikki) Abeyta. Grandson, Vincent Abeyta and his wife Jenny. Great granddaughters Alyssa Abeyta, Emily Abeyta, Haylee Abeyta, Great-grandsons Andrew Abeyta , Tommy Perkins, Jacob Perkins, Mark Perkins, and Jason Perkins.
Max and Elizabeth Abeyta of Leander,Texas. Grandsons Kevin Abeyta and his wife Catherine, Brian Abeyta and his wife Gabriela. Granddaughters Kimberly Slagle and her husband Chris. Great-grandson Noah Abeyta, Great-granddaughters Sophia Abeyta, Kadence Slagle, and twins Hazel and Sawyer Abeyta, due in March 2014.
Michael and Rebecca Abeyta of El Paso, Texas .Grandsons Mark Abeyta, Matthew Abeyta and his wife Carrie. Granddaughter, Michelle Chacon and her husband Eddie. Granddaughters Megan Abeyta, Morgan Abeyta, and Justice Chacon. Great-grandsons, Jeremy Abeyta, Ryan Abeyta, Justin Chacon, and
Austin Chacon.
Along with family Margie had many wonderful friends who loved her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Heart for the World (formally Vineyard El Paso Northeast) Church, 6115 Trans Mountain Road in El Paso, Texas.
