She was born September 1, 1918 in Locust Bayou, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of Happy Home Assembly of God Church in Hampton.
Mrs. Avant was preceded in death by her parents, Louie Beasley Dunn and Bessie Hardaway-Dunn; her husband, H. Darrell Avant; and one brother, Merman Dunn.
She is survived by one son, Eddie Avant of Hampton; four daughters, Gaye Scroggin of North Little Rock, Carolyn McLendon and Betty Cash of Locust Bayou, Sharon Leach of Santa Fe, TX; eleven grandchildren and several great and great great-grandchildren.
The funeral services were held in Happy Home Assembly of God Church with Rev. Monroe Hill and Rev. Rickey Smith officiating. The burial was in Pickett Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce/Hampton.
