Mary Evelyn "Evie" Collins, 47, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Bamberg, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, following a long
illness. She was a "free spirit" who touched the lives of literally all she came in contact with. She will be terribly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Colston Branch Baptist Church, Colston community, Bamberg, with the Rev. Billy G. Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Collins was born July 2, 1959, in Bamberg, a daughter of the late Mary Etta and Corey Rizer Beard of Colston. She was preceded in death by brothers, James Larry Beard and Fred Alden Beard.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Collins of the home; five sisters, Julia R. Hughes (Billy), of Bishopville, Kathleen Smith (David), of Varnville, Paula Johnston (Ray), of Pinewood, Lee Tindal (Joe), of Sumter, and Lynn Nix (Montague), of Olar; three brothers, Danny Beard, of Denmark, Hugh Beard (Cindy), of Colston, and Corey R. Beard Jr. (Wendy), of Bluffton; and one stepson, Michael Hugh Collins, of Wichita, Kan.
