Mr. Beard was a lifelong native of Brunswick born January 30, 1924 to the late James Thomas Beard and the late Lillian Blackstone Beard. A U.S. Navy veteran serving on the USS Pillsbury during WWII. He was a boilermaker by trade employed by the Boilermaker's Local #26 in Savannah from which he retired. He was also a former member of the Norwich Baptist Church. Mr. Beard enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid farmer. He leaves behind many legacies and will be sadly missed by all.
In addition to Mr. Beard's parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Beard is survived by his loving wife of 59 and a half years, Garnet Beard of Brunswick, five children, Sam Beard and wife Loyette of Jackson, GA, June Bennett and husband James of Jesup, GA, Jean McDonald and husband Mac, Bobbie Brooker and husband Hamp, and Marla Morris (Paul Doak) all of Brunswick and Linda Felts of Jacksonville, FL, one sister, Camille O'Quinn of Brunswick, 10 grandchildren, Kristi Keener (Tim), Jason Bennett (Brandy), Kenny Bennett (April), Brian McDonald, Sam Beard (Caribeth), Valerie McCullough (Eric), Lisa Knight, Billy Morris (Emily), Justin Morris and John Morris, 14 great-grandchildren, Timmothy Keener, Elizabeth Keener, Taylor Bennett, Mikey Bennett, Shelby Bennett, Carter Bennett, Chelsea Beard, Dawson Beard, Kaitlyn McCullough, Riley McCullough, Storm Keatts, Shayla Chapman, Billy Morris III and Makenzie Altman, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Loretta, Si and Amanda Altman, Jessica Black and Wanda Moxley.
