Nell Carolyn Horlock, 92, was born in Hattiesburg, MS and passed away on July 14, 2014 in Wiggins, MS.
She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Gulfport and was the oldest active member of the congregation, a title of which she was very proud. She served on the church council, worked with the Braille group and was known for the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls she made for the church Essenfest. Her hobbies included painting, reading and travelling.
She was a bookkeeper and worked for Stewart Sneed Hewes, Inc. for thirty-two years. After her retirement, she took a nursing course and became a care giver. This was a job she really loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Horlock; her parents, Ilma Ruby Beard and Thomas Elder Beard; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Eason; and her son-in-law, Jerry E. Peterman.
She is survived by a son, K. Thomas Eason, Jr. (Mary) of Wiggins; a daughter, Carolyn Eason Peterman of Perkinston; five grandchildren, Robin Eason Campbell (Brian) of Carrollton, GA, Heather Eason Fetterley (Troy) of Perkinston, Douglas Peterman (Pam) of Hattiesburg, Mark Peterman (Beth) of Starkville, Kevin Peterman (Wendy) of Biloxi, two step-grandchildren, Ann Loney King (Jim) of Wiggins, and Daphne Loney of New Orleans, LA; and ten great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 1301 31st Avenue in Gulfport on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
The family prefers memorial donations to St. Matthew Lutheran Church in lieu of flowers.
