Ruth of Hemlock Circle in Auburn, passed away at Clover Manor, with family at her side.

She was born in Kingfield, to Jasper and Sylvia (Woodcock) Beane. She was educated in Kingfield schools and graduated from Stanley High School as valedictorian of her class.

On Sept. 3, 1937, she was married in Kingfield to Mr. Kenyon Wills, who was of Salem. He predeceased her on Oct. 9, 1996. Ruth and her husband first lived for over 35 years in Kennebunk before moving to Farmington for several years and later to Auburn, where she currently resided.

She spent 24 years with Kennebunk Savings Bank where she started as a teller and worked her way up to assistant treasurer in charge of mortgages, and served the bank in that capacity until her retirement in 1976. She worked hard those 24 years at the bank and was proud of her accomplishments.

She was a very active member of Court Street Baptist Church and also served as an officer for a number of years with the Maine Association of Savings Bank Women. Among her favorite enjoyments were playing the organ, singing, spending good times with her family and also the company of her dogs.

She leaves a son, Vincent Wills and his wife, Margaret, of The Villages, Fla.; three granddaughters, Sharen L. Simpson and husband, Mark, of Auburn, Deborah A. Finn and husband, Tom, of Maitland, Fla. and Jennifer L. Steibel and husband, Guy, of Eagle, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Lindsey Simpson and Kelsy and Matthew Finn; a sister, Joyce Howe of Farmington; and one niece.


Wills - Ruth B., 91, died on Jan. 6. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral Friday, 11 a.m., at Court Street Baptist Church. Interment will take place in the family lot at Sunnyside Cemetery in Kingfield in the spring. Those wishing may make donations in her memory to Court Street Baptist Church, 129 Court St., Auburn, ME 04210.
