Cathryn E. Bean passed away peacefully at her home on Higgins Hill Road in Waterford Wednesday afternoon, June 6, 2012 at the age of 60.

She was born in Putnam, Conn. March 10, 1952, one of eight children born to Allen and Caroline (Lamphere) Charette. On June 28, 1969 she and Stephen Bean were married.

Cathy was an active 31-year member and past president of the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion Unit #58. She was employed for 20 years at Quest Transportation having previously worked at Maple Grove, Hovey's and Zayres.

She is survived by her husband Stephen, her mother Caroline Crabtree of Chepachet R.I.; two sons: Kevin Bean of St. Johnsbury and Shawn Bean of Waterford; granddaughter Katelynn Rose Bean; her best friend Bentley; seven brothers and sisters: Jane Philbrook and husband Milo of Ellington, Conn., Allen Charette and friend Deb of Eastford, Conn., Eddie Charette of Chepachet, R.I., Peggy Fowler of Andover, Conn., Glen Charette and friend Gail of Danielson, Conn., Harry Crabtree and wife Tina of Coventry, Conn., Cindy Levesque and husband Ronnie of Chepachet, R.I.; nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her mother in-law Emma Bean of Peacham, sister-in-law Mary Faris and husband Tony of Mosquitoville, brother-in-law Richard Bean and wife Patsy of Rochester, N.H., sister-in-law Beverly Terrill and husband William of St. Johnsbury.

She was predeceased by her father Allen Charette in Mohave Valley, Ariz., and by her father-in-law Robert Bean of Peacham.

Visiting hours will be held in St. Johnsbury at the Sayles Funeral Home Thursday, June 14, from 5-8 p.m. She will be then cremated the following day.

Graveside services will be held June 16, Saturday, at 10 a.m. at the Peacham Cemetery. Mr. John Sleeper will officiate. A reception will follow in St. Johnsbury at the American Legion on Maple Street.

Memorial contributions could be directed to either: Caledonia Home Health (marked for 'Hospice'), 161 Sherman Dr., St. Johnsbury VT 05819; or to The American Legion Auxiliary, 12 Maple St., St. Johnsbury VT 05819.

Memories and condolences may be shared privately @ Sayles Funeral Home is located at 525 Summer St. in St. Johnsbury.
