Burlington - Eva Hammond Bean, 87, of Burlington, Died at Fletcher Allen Health Care on July 12, 1999. She was born in Burlington on February 28, 1912, the daughter of Alexander and Alice (Croto) Hammond. Eva worked at the American Woolen Mill and the Queen City Cotton Mill as a spinner. She worked as a cook at Birchwood, Rice Memorial High School, Camp Holy Cross, and Fanny Allen Hospital.
Eva was a lifetime member of St Joseph's Parish, the Confraternity of St Joseph, Mt Carmel Society, St Anne's Society, the Fanny Allen Hospital Auxiliary, and the Catholic Golden Age Seniors. She was the widow of Leon Bean, who predeceased her in 1946.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert and Barbara Bean of Acworth, Georgia, and Gerald and Pauline Bean of Burlington; one sister, Lena Moquin, of Indian Orchard, Massachusetts; one sister-in-law, Bertha Hammond, of Burlington; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven brothers and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow in New Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call and the Boucher and Prichard Funeral Home, 85 North Winooski Avenue, Burlington, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Those who wish may make contributions in Eva's memory to St Joseph's Church, 85 Elmwood Avenue, Burlington, Vermont 05401. Arrangements are by Boucher and Prichard Funeral Directors.
