Charles Burl Beam, 85, of Fenwick Mountain went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2011, in Summersville Regional Medical Center, Summersville, after a long illness.

He was born December 5, 1925, in Arcola and was a son of the late Burl Chambers and Mary Ada Armentrout Beam.

He was a member of Macedonia Memorial United Methodist Church for 50 years. He was a retired coal miner for Island Creek Coal Company with 40 years of service. He was WWII Army veteran. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jean Beam of Fenwick Mountain; two sons, Rick Beam and wife, Beverly, of Richwood and Terrence Beam and wife, Penny, of Summersville; one daughter, Kathy and husband, John Woods, of Summersville; four sisters, Pauline Northrup of Susanville, Calif., Myrtle Holcomb of Camden-on-Gauley, Pearl Jones of Port Byron, N.Y., and Virginia "Rosalee" Svette of Summersville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, at Macedonia Memorial United Methodist Church, Fenwick Mountain, with Pastor Paul Matter and Assistant Pastor Damon Hanshaw officiating. Burial will be in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood.
