Christine Elizabeth Adams of McBride, Oklahoma, formerly of Lindsay, Oklahoma, passed from this life Monday, August 25th, 2008 in Norman, Oklahoma. Christine went to be with her Lord at the age of 86. Christine was born in Lindsay, Oklahoma on August 14th, 1922 to Roy Beam and Sally Leora "Slate" Beam. She married Virgil Lee Adams on November 25, 1938 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, and they were married for 68 years before his passing.
Christine was baptized in the Church of Christ, and she spent her entire adult life as a member of the Church. Based on her faith, she lived a life of virtue and humility. Loyal to her husband, Christine shared her life with Virgil, always his subsistence. Devoted to her daughters, Christine was always there when she said she would be there, overcoming all obstacles. She was appreciative of any received generosity, no matter how small. She remembered every gift given to her. She changed the giver into the receiver by the way she said, "Thank you", because you knew that she really meant it. Christine was kind, always considering others before herself. She remembered the good in people by forgiving the bad. She did not covet, but she forgave those that did. Christine was always courteous, and treated everyone with dignity. She possessed an amazing aptitude for needlework, but it was surpassed by her modesty to admit to her talent. Christine was strong-willed but was gentle in nature. She loved to watch the birds in the wild, and she enjoyed her friends at the McBride Fitness Club where she was a member. She loved her dog, "Taffy", but most of all Christine was devoted to her family, spoiling them with love.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lee Adams, her parents, Roy and Sally Beam, her grandparents; Daniel Davis Beam, Emma "Hughes" Beam, William L. Slate and Susan E.(Betty) "Black" Slate, one daughter, Marjorie Phillips, one grandson, Kenneth Phillips, and one brother, Glen Beam.
Christine is survived by three daughters; Linda Skinner and husband Jack of McBride, Oklahoma, Marilyn Riddles and husband Steve of McBride, Oklahoma and Mary Peelman and husband Fred of Lindsay, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren; Gary Phillips, Bobby Phillips, Don Phillips, Tray Skinner, Connie Skinner, Heather Riddles, Tony Riddles, Corey Riddles, Stephen Peelman and Brian Peelman along with twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams also leaves behind one brother, Leroy Beam and one sister, Novaleen Powell.
Christine was loving and generous. She was loved in return and will be forever missed.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adams will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 28th, 2008 at the Church of Christ in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
