Edward Elias Beals, age 78, passed away at his home west of Hinkle Church, R 1, Cicero, thursday afternoon after an illness of four years. He had been bedfast since last Easter.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at two p.m. at the Hinke Friends Church by Rev. Frank Klingen Smith. The body will lie in state at the Church for one hour before the services. Burial will occur in Hinkle Cemetery. Friends may call at the Coaltrin Funeral Home any time until noon Sunday.
Mr. Beals was born int he house where he passed away, he was te son of Thomas Elwood and Matilda (Hodgin) Beals. He has been following farming all his life, and was one of Hamilton County's prominent famrers. He was nationally known as a breeder of Scotch Shorthorn cattle, Percheron horses and big type Poland China hogs.
He served as Commissioner of Hamilton County from 1934 to 1946.
He was a member and Past Master of the Hinkle Masonic Lodge No. 310 and last year received his 50 year old pin.
Mr. Beals was also a member of the Hinkle Friends Church and served for some time as Trustee and Treasurer of the Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Beals and one daughter, Mrs. Parvin Brown of Elyria, Ohio, one brother, Homer H. Beals, of Noblesville, one granddaughter, Miss Betty Brown, of Elyria, Ohio. also a brother in law Harvey Wood, who has lived in their home for over 22 years. He was also a brother in law of Roy wood, r.R. Westfield, and Clark Wood of Noblesville. he also leaves one aunt, Mrs. Ella Tomlinson, of R. 1 Westfield, who is the las ton the Beals side of the pioneer family and three nephews, One sister, Mrs. mary Emily Pettijohn died 49 years ago.
