Lewistown, IL - Herbert T. "H.T." Beadles, 91, of 510 S. Jefferson St. passed away at 5:20 AM Wednesday July 20, 2011 at Graham Hospital Extended Care in Canton, IL.

He was born October 8, 1919 at Lewistown Twp., the son of Thomas and Addie (Jones) Beadles. He married Irene M. Kruzan on November 2, 1940 at Keokuk, IA. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Gale (Donna) Beadles, and one daughter, Connie (the late Dick) Lannery both of Lewistown, one sister, Vivian Hughes of Canton, 5 granddaughters, Gina (Jerry) Ray, Jill Bates, Darcy Branan, Carla "Brad" Fisher, and Tracy (Justin) Brown, 8 great grandchildren, Ryan & Jacob Ray, Megan Kelly, Tyler & Jeremy Branan, Mindy Dailey, Misty Ebey, and Eddie Bates, 3 great great granddaughters, Kayla Ray, and Chloe & Brooklyn Hickle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.

Herb graduated from Lewistown High School in 1937 and placed 2nd in his division at the State Wrestling Finals.

He served in World War II from 1944-1945 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Purple Heart Medal.

Herb was a farmer and a cement finisher.

He was a life member, past commander, and charter member of the Lewistown VFW Post 5001, and a member of Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1. He enjoyed socializing with friends at Hilda's and the Dairy Queen, helping with family building projects, and going to the farm.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lewistown with military services conducted by the Lewistown VFW Post 5001, and the Lewistown American Legion Bishop Post 1.
