The death of Mrs. George U. Beach at her home in Savannah, Ga., some ten days ago will be received with many expressions of tender regret in this place, where she passed many happy years both as a girl, wife and mother. She was Miss Hattie Capwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Capwell, among the pioneer settlers of this place. Here she married Capt. George U. Beach, for many years part owner in the Beach and Miller Line steamers, and who with his family moved to Savannah some 18 years ago. Mrs. Beach is survived by her husband and two daughters. Her body was taken to Putnam, Ct., for interment beside her parents in the family lot. (Palatka News Obituary dtd Friday, 4 Dec 1914.)

Hattie's husband Capt. George Ulman Beach died 29 years after she in Savannah, Georgia. Although George's name is engraved along with Harriet's on the headstone in Putnam, Connecticut he was not buried here but rather in Georgia where he died.

Married 1881
