Mary Jane Laws died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at the Life Care Center of Burlington. She was 82.
Mrs. Laws was a mother and homemaker. After her husband died in 1976, she went to work as a Certified Nurse's Aide and worked in health care for many years.
Mary Jane Baysinger was born May 3, 1925, in Hartford, the daughter of Roy Arthur and Sarah Mae Houghton Baysinger. She married Kline Howard Laws on March 3, 1943 in Emporia. He died March 4, 1976.
She attended the United Methodist Church in Hartford and enjoyed quilting, oil painting, fishing, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Elsie Stacy and Rosalea Morey; two brothers, William Roy Baysinger and Dale Baysinger; and one granddaughter, Gale Dawn Laws.
Survivors include one son, Gerald K. Laws of Hartford; one daughter, Karen Skillman of Burlington; three sisters, Ethel Lingenfelter of Emporia, Grace Graybeal of Topeka and Luretta Graybeal of Arcadia; one brother, Lee Baysinger of Emporia; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Hartford. Burial will be in Hartford Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
