Born around 1842. Son of Henry Baxter and Amanda K. "Anny" Williams.
Enlisted as a Private in Co. A, 16th GA Inf. Regt. on 11 Jul 1861. Mustered out when he died on 14 Apr 1862 in Petersburg, VA.

His father, Henry Baxter (b 22 Feb 1820, Madison Co., GA) enlisted as a Private in Co. A, 16th GA Inf. Regt. on 14 Jan 1863. He died of disease in Culpeper, VA on 15 Sep 1863.
His uncle, John David "David" Baxter (b. abt 1833 in GA), enlisted as a Private in Co. A, 16th GA Inf. Regt. in Mar 1862; and died in a hospital in Richmond, VA that same year.
