Memphis. Jan 26 - Mrs. Nancy Baxter, a pioneer resident of this section, after a long illness died yesterday morning at the residence of her son-in-law, Harry Crawford, at Slate Cut. She was the daughter of Philip Rogers, and was born near Salem, Washington County, in 1822, but in early life came with her parents to this county; the family located on the farm now owned by Philip Fischer, a short distance from Slate Cut. On January 7, 1855, she married Wm. Baxter, who died several years ago. For fifteen years she has been a parlytic sufferer, but recently when other diseases combined she sank rapidly. She was a devout member of the Baptist church, and a loady who had the respect of the entire community. Interment tomorrow, at Silver creek cemetery.
Jeffersonville (Indiana) News, Jan 30, 1893.
