1st Lt Baxter graduated from USMA in 1950. He became a pilot of a P-51D Mustang Night Fighter, 39th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, 18th Figther Bomber Group. While on a combat mission over N. Korea, Baxter's plane was struck by anti-aircraft fire. His aircraft burst into flames & crashed. He was initially listed as Missing in Action. On Decemeber 31, 1953, his status was changed to presumed Killed in Action Remains Not Recovered. Baxter's name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing.
