Mr. Baxter was born in Gordon County, Dec. 19, 1886, son of the late Jeff and Julie McKinsey Baxter and had resided in Gordon County until 1947 at which time he moved to Floyd County. He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a son, David Baxter, May of 1972.
