Joe Ben Baxter III, 27, of Steele died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 in Steele.

Born May 13, 1983 in Blytheville, Ark., he is the son of Joe Ben Baxter Jr. and Lisa Priddy Baxter. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Bill and Mallie Baxter, Keg Young, Ed and Vera Priddy and Mr. and Mrs. Rosco Golden; and two uncles, Tony Priddy and Jerry Priddy.

He was a graduate of South Pemiscot High School, class of 2001. He was employed by Danny Glass Farms of Wardell and was of the Church of Christ faith.

Mr. Baxter leaves his mother, Lisa Baxter, of Steele; his father, Joe Ben Baxter, Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Steele; one daughter, Annie Thomas of Caruthersville; his special friend, Lana Franks, of Wardell; three brothers: Harley Baxter and Blake Gist of Steele and Alex Baxter of Madison, Ala.; one sister, Hannah Bishop, of Steele; his grandparents: Hiram and Shirley Priddy of Yarbro, Ark., Jim and Marge Melton of Hayti, and Joe Ben Baxter, Sr. and his wife, Kathy of Steele; his great-grandmother, Nell Young of Steele; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Baxter were held at 2 p.m. Friday,July 30, 2010 at Powell Funeral Home in Steele with Mr. Greg Groves officiating.

Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.

Pallbearers were Lonnie Jones, Mike Pierce, Jonathan Carnell, Donnie Carnell, Chuck Justus and Chris Young.

Honorary pallbearers were Danny Glass and John Arbuckle.
