WOODSTOCK - John Vawter Bauserman commissioner of accounts for Shenandoah County since 1934, died yesterday. He was 55.

After graduating from the College of William and Mary, where he was captain of the football team, he attended the University of Virginia and received his law degree. While at the University he was assistant football coach.

A former member of the board of visitors of William and Mary, he was also a member of the Shenandoah Valley Bar Association and a former vestryman of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Woodstock.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Sheetz Bauserman; a son, John M. Bauserman of Woodstock; a daughter, Mrs. Winifred B. Miller of Woodstock and two brothers, J. Richard Buaserman of Richmond and Robert D. Bauserman of Edinburgh.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. tornorrow at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, with burial in Massanutten Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
