Allen Bauscher, 89, a resident of Boise and formerly of Fairfield, died Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Idaho State Veteran's Home in Boise.
Allen was born July 19, 1921 in Corral, Idaho to Elsie and Henry Bauscher. Growing up in Camas County he attended school at the Punkin Center, Star and Fairfield elementary. He graduated from Camas County High School in 1939. He attended the University of Idaho and played basketball and was a member of the Delta tau Delta fraternity. He transferred to the University of Washington for his senior year so he could participate in ROTC Quartermaster training. He graduated from Washington in 1943 with a degree in accounting/business. Upon graduation he attended officers training at Camp Lee, Petersburg, Virginia. He served in the South Pacific during WWII.
After the war he returned to Fairfield to farm. He married Marjorie Roubinek from Buhl, Idaho in 1948 and together they built the Bauscher Ranch raising cattle, hay and barley.
He was active in his community and the state. He was a Camas County Commissioner 1979-1989, He was inducted into the Idaho Cattleman's Hall of Fame in 1980. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion. He also participated in a variety of roles in the Idaho Cattlemen's Association, the Elks, Rifle Club, the Disabled American Veterans. and Idaho Republican politics After moving to Boise he enjoyed his involvement in the Blind Veterans Association, the University Christian Church and he loved to visit the Idaho Legislature.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brothers, Fred and Don, and sister, Fae Ruehle; and son, Larry Bauscher.
He is survived by: his wife of 63 years, Marjorie; his son, Randy (Mary) of Rupert; his daughter, Paula Forney (Drew) of Boise. His grandchildren, Miranda Gibson, Brenda Fries, Bill Bauscher, Anthony Barringa, Joe Forney, Betsy Schmoeger, Suzy Forney, Christie Bauscher and Mike Bauscher; his sister-in-law and husband, Audrey and Mervin Randall, Buhl; and 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
