Mary E. Baumfalk, 90 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Beatrice Community Hospital in Beatrice, NE. Wednesday afternoon, January 5, 2005. She was born on June 9, 1914 at Cook, NE. She was a 1932 graduate of Barneston High School in Barneston, NE. She and Albert Baumfalk were married on October 15, 1946 in Beatrice, NE. They farmed west of Beatrice, NE. until they moved into Beatrice, NE. in 1982. She had been a housekeeper and cook at the PEO Home in Beatrice, NE. from 1964 until 1988. She was a member of the First Trinity Lutheran Church, R. Beatrice, NE. and member and former officer of the Ladies Aid, past Sunday school teacher, secretary and superintendent; and member of the LWML. She enjoyed reading, watching television, playing Pitch, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by 3 daughters, 2 sons, 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters in law, a son in law; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Dan'l and Lucy (Brown) Vliet; husband Albert Baumfalk (1990); daughter Joyce Gross (1996): 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the First Trinity Lutheran Church, R. Beatrice, NE. with Reverend Mark Rockenbach officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Friday from 10-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. and not at the church. A memorial has been established to the Beatrice Senior's Center and the family's choice with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. in charge.
