Marie Antoinette (Hawkins) Baume was the 1st wife of Rev. Dr. James Baume. They were married Aurora, Illinois June 20, 1852. Rev. Baume was a minister in the Rock River Conference and India Mission Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Rev. James Baume and wife (Marie Antoinette Hawkins) arrived in India in July, 1859, and returned to the United States in 1866, Mrs. Baume died February 24, 1867 in Rockford Ill. Mr. Baume married Elizabeth Rodd May 18, 1869. Mr. and Mrs. Baume went to India in 1883 and returned in 1892. Dr. Baume died June 18, 1897, at Rockford, Ill.
