Patricia Ann (Saylor) Bauman passed away peacefully from Alzheimer's on May 6, 2014, at her daughter's home in Dallas Center. Pat was born in Des Moines on July 26, 1938, to Lawrence Carl Saylor and Ardath Louise (Gray) Saylor. She attended Des Moines Public Schools and Roosevelt High School. She graduated from Boone High School in 1956. Pat graduated from both Boone Junior College and Drake University with a degree in teaching. She taught for 39 years in the Urbandale School District at Olmsted Elementary.

Pat married Marvin (Buck) Bauman on June 4, 1961. They had 2 children, Elizabeth and Jennifer. They lived in Urbandale until 1976. The family moved to a farm in Madison County. She lost her husband in 1994 after 33 years of marriage.

Pat devoted many hours to her political beliefs and was active in the ISEA and UEA. She served in many capacities on many committees within the Urbandale School district, helping to shape curriculum and encourage students.

In retirement, Pat volunteered in various capacities, supported numerous charities, and spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren, attending all the functions that they participated in.

Pat's pets were a big part of her life as well, always considering them an integral part of the family. She loved and lost many dogs and cats over the years.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lawrence and Richard Saylor; sister-in-law, Helen Saylor, and nephews, Steve and Tom Saylor. She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Bauman, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Edward Roberts, granddaughter, Kelcie Stratton and husband, Cory, granddaughter Kindra Roberts and Logan Gaulke, granddaughter Katherine Roberts, and grandson Edward Roberts.

Pat is a descendent of John B. Saylor, who founded Saylorville.
