A respected local artist, Charles L. Baum was born about 1868, the son of John B. Baum and Sarah Holtzman. His parents are interred at Union Church Cemetery, Lykens, Dauphin Co., Pennsylvania, so perhaps he is as well.
I came across his bio and portrait in a book (credit given when viewing the pictures) and admit to finding myself a bit captivated. A fine looking man with wonderful hair, he has an intense, dreamy look on his face. Most of the portraits in the book are of businessmen, local movers and shakers, and Charles' portrait stood out by having nothing that screams of commerce or importance. A handsome gent, there is a timeless quality to his face.
A person of his name ran on the Lykens Socialist ticket for school director in 1917.
