Margaret E. Baum Rupley, 83, died at 7 AM Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at Regency Place. The daughter of the late Fred A. and Madge E. Pound Baum, she was born Sept. 14, 1920, at Lafayette, and was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She lived at Monticello, then moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she lived for more than 24 years, returning to Lafayette 15 years ago. She married Ralph E. Rudley on February 21 1945; he died Oct. 27, 1995.
Mrs. Rupley was employed at the former Brown Rubber Co. in Lafayette as a production worker. She also was a self-employed landscaper in Phoenix. She was a member of First Free Methodist Church and Eagles Lodge 237 Auxiliary for more than 25 years. An Army veteran, she served as a private first class and was a 27-year member of the American Legion in Delphi. Her hobbies included bowling, reading, gardening, fishing and making jewelry. Surviving are four nieces, four nephews and a brother-in-law. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mariana Ahlrich and Frances "Pat" Vahle; and a nephew, Fred Sollars. Service Nov. 19, Hippensteel Chapel, the Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
