Catherine M. Baughman, age 92, passed away on Sunday, May 31st, 2009 at Calvin Community in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Westover Funeral Home with burial following at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009.
Catherine was born on May 24, 1917 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Harold and Marie Tillson. At the age of 2 she moved to Des Moines. She attended Elmwood, Callanan, and Roosevelt High School. In 1943 she married Emmett Baughman who preceded her in death in 1991. Kay was the office manager for several years at the Des Moines Education Association. She was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church, P.E.O., Beta Sigma Phi, Urbandale Women's Club, Kappa Kappa Iota Educational Sorority, and Des Moines Area Retired School Personnel Association. For many years after retirement she volunteered as a tour guide at Terrace Hill and helped at the Urbandale Library. She loved playing bridge and being a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her daughters, Carla Clark (Grant), Sandra Cross (Greg); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Calvin Community or Mercy Hospice.
