CARL THOMAS BAUGHMAN
Carl Thomas Baughman, youngest son of Shirley and Bonnie Baughman, was born near Williamson, Iowa, on April 22, 1920, and departed from this life at the Broadlawns hospital in Des Moines on Feb. 18, 1940, at the age of 19 years, 9 months and 27 days. His death resulted from a traffic accident near Carlisle on the preceding day.
In his early childhood the family moved from the farm into Chariton and here he grew to young manhood. He attended the Chariton public schools and for four years had a record for perfect attendance in the Baptist Sunday School.
Carl was of a quiet disposition, a great lover of his home and took a keen interest in all the affairs of home life. He was loved and respected by his many friends. He had for some time helped his father in the trucking business.
He leaves to mourn his tragic death his sorrowing parents: two brothers and one sister, Lowell of Detroit, Mich., and Emmet and Donna Jean at home; also many other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Largely attended funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Harry Secor, assisted by Rev. A. E. Beals of Russell, and burial was in the Chariton cemetery.
